Paul approached sharing the gospel in Athens by looking at all the ways they already experienced the grace of God without even knowing it.

prevenient grace - the grace that comes before

think of prevenient grace as the front porch on the house of salvation. It gets you up to the front door, but not inside.

if God already loves everybody in the world and is lavishing them with grace, then why do we need the gospel?
